Travel beyond the nearest school
Out of zone requests
The bus routes managed by the Mahurangi Transport Network Group are designed to transport students to the nearest appropriate school. In rare circumstances, transport may be provided to a more distant school. Caregivers are required to complete an Out of Zone request for the Committee to consider.
Typical grounds for approval
Family circumstances
For example, split-living arrangements.
Continuity of learning
When a family moves house partway through schooling.
Children of staff members
Tamariki of staff at the enrolled school.
How requests are decided
Requests are considered at Network Committee meetings. An Out of Zone request will only be approved when:
- there is sufficient capacity on the bus, and - the nearest school’s principal has agreed to the request.
Committee meeting dates
Please check the next meeting date before submitting your request — meetings are generally held once a term.
